When German matters most
German is more likely to matter in consulting, regulated industries, public-sector-adjacent work, customer-facing roles, local stakeholder roles, and smaller traditional companies.
English-only roles exist, but they are more competitive and often require stronger exact-fit proof.
How to signal language fit
State language level plainly and avoid vague wording. If German is developing, show the current level and whether the target role actually requires daily German.
